The heart of the city

Marienplatz has been the centre of Munich since the city was founded in 1158. The two main roads met here, and to this day the square is a place to meet, look around and shop. It is dominated by the New Town Hall with its tower and glockenspiel.

A note from history: in 1315 Louis the Bavarian granted Munich market rights on condition that the square be kept free of buildings for all time. The city has kept to this to this day.

How to get there from us

All routes begin at our hotel in Oberschleißheim. 25 min by S1.

  1. By bicycle

For the city centre the train is more convenient. The bike is better suited to north Munich.

  2. By bus and train25 min by S1

The S-Bahn S1 is 1.5 km from us and takes you to the city centre in about 25 minutes. The Lustheim stop of the ExpressBus X201 is only 150 m from us.

  3. By car

Parking in the old town is scarce and expensive. Leave the car at our hotel, where parking is free.

A day without a car

From here you can walk to the pedestrian zone, the Frauenkirche and the Viktualienmarkt. Plan half a day or a whole day for the city centre and take the S1 back to us in the evening. That way the car stays at our hotel.

Our tip

Ask for our Munich information pack when you arrive.

It contains tips for your stay in the city.

Please note:

  • Do not click any links in unverified WhatsApp messages.
  • Never enter credit card, bank, password or security details on these pages.
  • We will never ask you to enter sensitive data through an unknown WhatsApp contact.

If you are unsure, please contact us only through the official contact details on this website or in your original booking documents.
