Cycling from our door

The many natural green corridors of the Bavarian capital are ideal for discovering Munich by bike. Lovely cycle paths surrounded by greenery alternate with magnificent palaces and the venues of the 1972 Olympic Games.

The route runs mostly through green surroundings and combines nature with the most interesting sights of north Munich. The 40-kilometre route starts in the small, tranquil village of Lustheim and passes, among other places, Schleißheim and Dachau palaces, the Olympic regatta course and numerous picturesque lakes.

Past the Allianz Arena, along the Isar meadows and through the English Garden, the route leads straight into the heart of Munich – to the Viktualienmarkt. Strolling past the market stalls or sitting under cooling chestnut trees in one of the lovely beer gardens, you experience the charm of Munich's way of life.

The loop links the finest sights of Munich and Schleißheim along charming cycle paths, most of them through green surroundings.

From Lustheim the route follows the palace canal towards Garching. After crossing the B13 at the traffic lights, the path continues along the palace canal to the cycle underpass beneath the U-Bahn tracks. Then keep right and ride straight to the Allianz Arena.
