How the tour runs
From Hotel Kurfürst the route heads north through the small town of Unterschleißheim. Over gentle hills and fields it continues to the idyllically set Amper, which leaves the northern end of Lake Ammersee and flows into the Isar near Moosburg. Along the Amper you can rely on the signs of the Amper cycle path to reach Dachau.
In Dachau you pass the concentration camp memorial site and Dachau Palace. At the palace you should definitely stop for a rest and enjoy the view of Munich from the Schlossberg.
From the Schlossberg the route leads south out of Dachau across idyllic fields to Oberschleißheim. On the way you pass the Olympic regatta course, built for the 1972 Olympic Games.
In Oberschleißheim you should definitely allow time for the imposing Schleißheim palace complex. It was the summer residence of the Bavarian electors and has a beautiful Baroque garden.
Afterwards the route continues to the Flugwerft Schleißheim. It was built around 1912, in the early days of aviation, for the Royal Bavarian flying corps and today houses an aviation museum. Across the Schleißheim heath you ride back to Lustheim – the tour ends at Hotel Kurfürst.
